Microsoft Teams Breakout Rooms — Overview Once your meeting has started, locate the breakout room icon in your control panel. Click on the icon. A window will pop up inviting you to configure the breakout rooms. Students can join from any version of Teams. You must be the meeting organizer in order to create and manage breakout rooms. Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.
Optional Select the check boxes for the following breakout room options, then click Save: Allow meeting hosts to pre-assign participants to breakout rooms. As teacher, you will stay at the main room page, if you want to join the students in the breakout rooms, you can click the breakout rooms link on the left menu , and then you can see all the breakout rooms. You can click join room and access to the breakout room and join the students.
Now, you can control meeting options directly from the meeting details tab. Breakout rooms are sessions that are split off from the main Zoom meeting. They allow the participants to meet in smaller groups, and are completely isolated in terms of audio and video from the main session.
Breakout rooms can be used for collaboration and discussion of the meeting. Participants can be moved between Breakout Room sessions at any time. The host can pre-assign Breakout Rooms. The host can move between the Breakout Rooms to monitor activity. Participants who need to join the breakout room session must have the Zoom installed.
Please download the desktop client or mobile app according to your device. To allow participants to move freely between existing rooms without recreating them, click options lower left corner of the Breakout Rooms window— if you closed it, click Breakout Rooms in the meeting ribbon controls to re-open the window and check the box next to Allow participants to choose room.

What are Teams breakout rooms? Why should you use Teams breakout rooms? How to use breakout rooms in Teams There are some basic guidelines and points worth noting when using breakout rooms in Teams: Only the meeting organiser can create, rename and delete breakout rooms, it is not possible to transfer or share organiser capabilities.
The organiser must be using the Teams desktop client to create and manage breakout rooms and participants. Meeting attendees and presenters will not have visibility of breakout rooms option. Breakout rooms cannot be set up before a meeting they must be created after the meeting has started.
The organiser can join breakout sessions, send announcements to breakout rooms and move participants between breakout rooms or back to the main meeting as needed.
