I went so far as to remove Office from the system, restarted, cleaned the system using CCleaner Professional, cleaned the registry using CCleaner Professional and reinstalled Office with the original distribution disc. Other similar questions have been posted and none of their solutions are working for me.

In the cases I looked at users were getting an unexpected Basic Auth prompt. If you are on Monthly Channel I would be curious if you reverted to the Office build before April 29th. To revert Office click Start, search for Command Prompt and open it. This will revert you to the build before April 29th per Update History. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. This is a standalone Outlook account, not an Office account I think.

I don’t know what Monthly Channel is. That Word version looks a little old. The more recent update version should be Unless Word is showing the wrong version I would first recommend installing the latest updates. Not sure what version of Windows you have. In the Windows search box type updates to get to Windows Update settings and turn on Microsoft Update if it is not. When this is turned on it will pull down all the Office updates for you automatically.

I would make sure Office is fully up to date first and see if that helps mitigate the issue. These are what Windows should pull down when Microsoft Update is enabled. Note that I reinstalled Office from the original CD after the problem started.

It explains why the version is old. That tells me my problem is not a version-specific problem. The old version that worked for almost a year is now having the password problem too. What’s left? Is my account corrupt? Doesn’t seem likely since I can access Outlook from the web application and from the messaging app on my PC. Is Windows 10 out of date?

I am having the login prompt issue as well but several users are also having issues adding shared calendars..
