Combo this with a removal of the Machine Wide msi and presto all gone. DailyLlama Aug 12, at am. APropes Aug 19, at pm. Dan Aug 19, at pm. Doesn’t work for my setup. Gosh this Teams is a scurge. Rather, Teams will be deployed to computers and then auto-launch the first time users sign into a computer. We recommend that you deploy the package to computers rather than a specific user. By targeting computers, all new users of those computers will benefit from this deployment. Teams can also be distributed to your organization as part of Microsoft Apps for enterprise. Download the MSI that you want to install on computers in your organization. The x86 architecture bit or bit Teams supports is independent of other Office apps installed on a computer.

If you have bit computers, we recommend installing the bit Teams MSI even if the computer is running a bit version of Office.

Install the bit version of Teams only on bit operating systems. If you try to install the bit version of Teams on a bit operating system, the installation won’t be successful and you won’t receive an error message.

MSI files can’t be used to deploy updates. The Teams client will auto-update when it detects a new version is available from the service. To re-deploy the latest installer, use the process of redeploying MSI described below. We have had this complaint since it was released. It is per user profile install and configuration. Unfortunately that’s the way Teams is designed at the moment. I’ve seen plenty of requests for Microsoft to change that, but it took them this long just to make an MSI installer available, so I wouldn’t hold my breath on that change coming any time soon.

This is just how the installer is configured. Looks like there is a machine level installer they’ve made, and with a bit of updating ourselves, this looks like the answer until MS sort it out properly. This works on a desktop with multiple user profiles on a Windows 10 device.

Has anyone tried the msi in a RDS environment? I have tried but with little success. Especially in an environment folder redirection and roaming profiles.

Is MS really that stupid when it comes to this? They give us a MSI but it is nerfed. We also are in a mess because we have used the regular EXE installer, the machine-wide MSI installer, the VDI installer manual and SCCM and even the Office Apps install to deploy Teams, sometimes more than one install method on the same machine which can break the automatic updating!

It would be great to have a removal and cleanup script that handles all those install methods and all the locations it can get itself into AppData, Program Files, ProgramData and registry , so we can get back to a blank page and start a fresh deployment using only one method.

Do you or any of your readers like this challenge? I working with Terminal Server with a lot of users that installed Microsoft Teams. I looking for remover script to uninstall Microsoft teams from all location that needed.

I think you will need to take a look a PowerShell to remove all the files. Are you sure? I too have the same issue with installs to programdata. Is there any group policy settings that one can set on the domain level for teams?

After reading your comment I wondered exactly the same. So I removed everything I installed it again, and somehow it gets installed in the programdata folder on my computer. Now I am not the only one, as you can read here on Github more people have the same issue.

Team will create a installer under every user account on a PC, so the normal uninstall won’t work. If only they’d write Teams properly and have it install in Program Files, we wouldn’t need this kind of wizardry! Microsoft’s products are acting more and more like viruses. This thing is providing to be a real pain over here. I was about to say the same thing; I ran the Machine Wide uninstaller and ran this script, and it came back the net morning. I’m sure Microsoft are counting installs like this to say they have more users than Slack.

Thanks a million for putting this up! I had to adapt it, as for some reason the Teams app ended up in ProgramData for our users:. Online Events. Login Join. Home Software Microsoft Office How-tos.
